Calipso is the 2016 solo show of Cleo Fariselli at Clima Gallery, Milano. The artist conceived the exhibition as an “exotic night club”; from this suggestion I created a soundtrack inspired by exotica music’s originators Martin Denny and Arthur Lyman. The project saw the participation of renowned musician Patrizio Fariselli on piano.

The exhibition ended with Calipso Sayonara, a live rendition of the soundtrack. I gathered a collection of instrument and sound props, evoking the tiki culture and exotica music’s tradition (xylophones, bongos, shakers…); by gradually recording, filtering, looping and layering the live sounds i was able to evoke a dense and mysterious ambience.
